This Month’s Wildlife Watch
Warm weather can increase snake sightings, odor complaints, insect activity around dead-animal issues, and yard damage from digging animals. Keep grass trimmed, reduce clutter, secure pet food, and check vents, soffits, crawlspace doors, and deck gaps for easy access points.
Problem of the Month: Yard Holes
Fresh holes are often blamed on one animal, but the pattern matters. Multiple shallow holes may point toward armadillo or skunk activity. Raised ridges may point toward moles. Larger openings under a deck, shed, or porch may mean an animal is using the space for shelter.
Safe Prevention Tip
Walk the outside of your house once a month and look low and high: crawlspace doors, dryer vents, gable vents, soffits, roof returns, chimney areas, deck voids, and garage-door seals.
Critter Spotlight: Raccoons
Raccoons are strong, adaptable, and mostly active at night. Heavy thumping overhead after dark, especially near a roofline or attic space, is one clue worth investigating.
