NO VACANCY Field Notes

Spring Attic Wildlife Guide

What morning scratching, nighttime thumping, chirping, and roofline damage may mean.

01

Start With the Clock

The time of day is one of the best first clues. Squirrels are usually active during daylight, while raccoons are more commonly heard at night.

02

Do Not Seal First

A new exterior gap may look like the obvious repair, but sealing an occupied opening can trap wildlife inside. Resolve the activity before permanent exclusion.

03

Look for More Than Noise

Check for damaged soffits, loose vents, rub marks, droppings below an opening, and repeated travel along the same roof edge.
